Content creator and actor Isbae U told Vanguard that he was scared when he began interviewing people much older than him, including veteran actor Pete Edochie and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Speaking as a guest on The Morayo Show, Isbae U said the age and stature of some guests made him nervous. “I get scared, especially when interviewing people that are way older than me, like Sir Pete Edochie, like the late Ogogo, like Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. I was very worried about it, but I am glad they welcomed me and made me know I can do this,” he told the programme.
The creator described his move into interview-led content as part of a personal search for his best professional fit. He said his earlier work in acting, music and other creative pursuits were steps in that process. “You can’t say my acting didn’t work out. It was just me finding myself. I was singing before that, rapping before that,” he said.
Isbae U also explained the origin of his show, Curiosity Made Me Ask. He said he created it because he wanted to break out of what he described as mediocrity and try something different. “There was a day I said to someone that I was done being a mediocre being, average. I wanted to do something different. I didn’t just want to be considered part of them. I wanted to do something different,” he said.
On how the format of Curiosity Made Me Ask developed, Isbae U told the host that he was inspired by a programme he watched while growing up and decided to adapt elements of it. “I saw a show that I used to watch a long time ago. I got inspired by it and I tried it,” he said.
