Moses Usor scored the winning goal as the Super Eagles came from behind to beat Madagascar 2-1 in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, the two outlets that covered the game report.
The LASK winger, introduced in the second half, finished a late individual strike to complete Nigeria’s comeback after George Ilenikhena had cancelled out an earlier goal by Ehsan Kari, according to one report. That account adds Usor needed 14 minutes after coming on to score and that the match took place in Uyo (Punch).
Speaking after the game, Usor said he wants to emulate veteran team-mate Moses Simon because of Simon’s consistency, humility and commitment to the team. Usor made the remarks in an interview with Footy-Africa, as reported by both outlets (Punch), (Daily Post).
“I want to be like Moses Simon, his consistency, his humility, his commitment to the team over so many seasons,” Usor told Footy-Africa, the reports say.
Usor added that sharing the name Moses with Simon made the night special and praised Simon’s milestone, calling 100 caps for Nigeria “a massive achievement,” according to the same interview (Punch), (Daily Post).
Punch reported additional background, saying Usor is 24 years old and that he had previously been invited to the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 Unity Cup but missed that call-up because of injury (Punch).
