Actors Guild of Nigeria finish top at inaugural LEAGA Games
The Actors Guild of Nigeria emerged as champions of the first Lagos Entertainment Association Games and Awards, finishing top of the final medal table with five gold and three silver medals, Complete Sports reported.
Complete Sports said Star/MITV Plus placed second overall with four gold, four silver and five bronze medals. Verdant Zeal were third with four gold and three bronze, while Pulse NG finished fourth with three gold, six silver and one bronze. The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN, completed the top five with two gold and one silver, the report added.
Other groups that featured on the medal table included the Guild of Nigerian Dancers, GOND, which took one gold, one silver and one bronze; the Deejays Association of Nigeria, DJAN, with one silver and one bronze; Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria, GOMAN, with three bronze; and Q Dance with one bronze, according to Complete Sports.
Complete Sports listed several participants that did not win medals: BRILA Media, Fuji Musician Association of Nigeria, FUMAN, NTDA, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Citizens Voice and the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners, NANTAP.
The closing ceremony was held on Saturday, September 26 at the Yabatech Sports Centre in Yaba, Complete Sports reported. Medals were presented by dignitaries including LEAGA Amazon and actor Ronnie Dikko Kila, and Olufemi Oladeinde, chairman of Studio 18 Hub and organiser of the event.
Complete Sports said the five-day tournament featured 12 sports contested by 15 participants. Events listed by the outlet included football for men and women, basketball, table tennis, tennis, Ludo, draughts, arm wrestling, ayo olopon, sack race, 100 metres for men and women, 200 metres for men and women, a mixed 4×100 metres relay, tug of war, snooker and scrabble. The inaugural edition took place across three Lagos venues: Yabatech Sports Centre in Yaba, Rowe Park in Yaba and Studio 18 Hub in Gbagada.
Complete Sports published photos of participants posing with their medals at the closing ceremony and reported that the Guild of Dancers, Lagos chapter, entertained spectators on the final day.
