Content creator and media personality King Mitchy urged young Nigerians involved in internet fraud, popularly known as Yahoo, to abandon the practice and acquire legitimate skills, she said in a video shared on social media, according to Vanguard.
In the clip King Mitchy said the scheme no longer delivers the returns it once did. “Yahoo no dey go again. Yahoo no dey pay again,” she said, Vanguard reported.
King Mitchy told viewers that some young men who previously depended on internet fraud were now struggling to meet basic financial obligations, including paying rent, and were looking for alternative sources of income, the report said.
She appealed to girlfriends of men involved in internet fraud to encourage them to develop lawful means of earning, rather than pressuring them to sustain an expensive lifestyle. She also advised young women not to depend solely on men for costly gifts, Vanguard wrote.
King Mitchy encouraged those aspiring to become Yahoo boys to consider legitimate careers and businesses as alternatives to internet fraud, the report added.
