Nigeria’s Super Eagles resumed training on Saturday as they finalise preparations for Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Guinea-Bissau.
The squad held a light recovery session on the practice pitch at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo after their 2-1 opening win over Madagascar, with all 24 players in camp taking part, according to local reports.
The team are due to increase the intensity of training on Sunday before travelling to Bissau for the Matchday 2 game at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro. Guinea-Bissau top Group L on goal difference after a 2-0 win over Tanzania, while Nigeria occupy second place following the victory over Madagascar.
Head coach Éric Chelle remains in charge of the squad. The team’s preparations will include a closed-door session on Sunday, the Super Eagles’ media officer, Promise Efoghe, told Daily Post Sport. Efoghe also gave the team’s travel timetable, saying the squad is expected to arrive at Victor Attah International Airport at 2:00 pm and depart for Bissau an hour later.
The match in Bissau is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 pm Nigerian time, a detail reported by Daily Post Sport.
Completesports and Daily Post both reported the recovery session and said the team planned to step up training on Sunday before leaving for Guinea-Bissau. The other fixture in Group L on Tuesday will see Madagascar host Tanzania.
