Bonang Matheba selects Nigerian designers for major hosting looks, BellaNaija reports
According to BellaNaija, South African television presenter and host Bonang Matheba has worn creations by three Nigerian designers for high-profile hosting appearances, including the Miss South Africa 2024 finale and Miss Cosmo events.
BellaNaija reported that the designers are Sheye Oladejo, Veekee James and Emagine By Bukola. The outlet described each look and the occasions on which Bonang wore them.
Sheye Oladejo. For a Miss Cosmo appearance, BellaNaija said Sheye Oladejo made a custom strapless gown for Bonang. The piece was described as combining deep cobalt, sky blue, turquoise and silver, with a cascading fringe hem and an asymmetrical neckline. BellaNaija also reported that celebrity stylist Dahmola styled that look.
Veekee James. For the Miss South Africa 2024 grand finale, BellaNaija wrote that Bonang wore a deep forest-green gown by Veekee James. The gown was described as having a beaded bodice with a plunging neckline, a teal-blue draped hip and a full skirt, blending structured and fluid elements.
Emagine By Bukola. BellaNaija reported that for another Miss Cosmo appearance Bonang wore a red and gold floor-length gown by Emagine By Bukola. The outlet described the design as featuring sculpted, wing-like shoulder extensions, sheer illusion sleeves and rows of pleating through the skirt.
BellaNaija noted how the three Nigerian designers approached Bonang’s red-carpet wardrobe differently, from sculptural shoulders to beadwork and movement through fringe. The outlet also credited Bonang Matheba’s Instagram for the photographs used in its piece.
