Xiaomi will introduce the REDMI Note 17 series in Nigeria on September 30, 2026, pitching battery life as the headline feature, the company told Vanguard.
Xiaomi said the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, the series’ flagship, ships with a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 100W HyperCharge and 27W wired reverse charging. According to Vanguard’s report, the company added that, based on its internal laboratory tests, the battery can deliver up to four days of use on a single charge.
Xiaomi described the Pro Max 5G as featuring a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate and protection from Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The firm added that the device carries multiple dust and water resistance ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, and said it can withstand water exposure of up to two metres for 72 hours and has three-metre drop resistance.
On performance, Xiaomi said the Pro Max runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 4nm platform, offering memory and storage options that reach up to 8GB RAM and 512GB in some markets. For photography, the company reported a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera; it said both front and rear cameras record 4K video at 30fps.
The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G was described as featuring an 8,340mAh battery, with 67W turbo charging and 22.5W reverse charging. Xiaomi said this model runs on the Snapdragon 6s 6G Gen 4 processor, offers RAM up to 12GB and storage up to 512GB, and uses a 50MP OIS main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 16MP selfie camera.
Xiaomi said the base REDMI Note 17 has a 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness. It is reported to use the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 processor, to offer storage up to 256GB and RAM up to 8GB, and to include a 7,700mAh battery with 45W turbo charging and 22.5W reverse charging. Xiaomi listed a 50MP main camera and a 16MP front camera, along with AI tools such as AI Erase Pro, AI Sky and AI Image Expansion.
Beyond battery capacity, Xiaomi told Vanguard that the Pro 5G and Pro Max 5G models will include dual speakers, Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio; it claimed volume boosts up to 300 per cent and 400 per cent for those models. The base Note 17 was said to offer a 200 per cent volume boost. Xiaomi also said the series runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and that it will receive four years of operating-system updates and six years of security updates.
The Vanguard report added that Xiaomi framed the REDMI Note 17 series as aimed at power users, content creators, travellers and consumers seeking long battery life, fast charging, durability and AI-enabled camera features.
