The police said the Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old, Sada Tambai, on suspicion of killing his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, Bindawa Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the command reported by the Daily Post, the incident occurred on 21 September 2026 after the elderly man was discovered unconscious outside his home. The report said the Bindawa Police Division got a distress call around noon from the District Head of Bindawa, identified in the police statement as Dan Yusufan Katsina.
Police detectives were reportedly sent to the village, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The medical team pronounced him dead on arrival, the statement added.
The police said a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s son. The suspect, during questioning, allegedly admitted that he struck his father on the head with a stick. The command said the assault produced injuries that resulted in the elderly man’s death.
According to the Daily Post report, the Police Public Relations Officer for Katsina State, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the development in the statement.
